We've all heard the term "Assembly," but what is an assembly?
An assembly is an organized gathering, a meeting of a larger group of people convened for discussion or resolution of certain issues.
There are several different types of assemblies:
In a political sense, an assembly can be a representative body of a political community (state, region, county, city, municipality, etc.), composed of elected or delegated representatives who decide on matters of common and/or general interest. In a narrower sense, it refers to a gathering of representatives, delegates, or envoys who are elected to enact laws, legal acts, and other decisions relevant to the community in question.
There is also a Legislative Assembly, the highest representative body in a political system that enacts laws. In Croatia, such an assembly is called the "Sabor," while in other countries, it may be called a congress (e.g., the United States) or parliament (e.g., the United Kingdom), among others.
In a community, the assembly serves as the highest governing body. It consists of representatives of regular members of the community. The assembly is composed of three representatives elected by each affiliated association and one representative elected by each associated independent association, taking care that at least one representative is a person with special responsibilities, serving a term of four years. Member representatives have the right to participate in the management of all community affairs, elect, and be elected to community bodies.
Assemblies in organizations perform essential functions (strategic planning, statute adoption, policy development, advocacy, oversight). Their role also includes deliberation and providing proposals and recommendations.
No matter what type of assembly it is, they all follow a similar process: a group of people with voting rights gathers at an assembly, where they follow the agenda and assembly points, voting on all issues by raising their hands with choices such as "Yes," "No," or "Abstain." After each vote, the election committee counts the votes, and the option with the majority wins.
Sometimes, the counting process can be slow and time-consuming, influenced by human errors. To overcome these issues, technology offers us a perfect solution.
